Realizing customer wishes as a team and thinking and acting across projects – that is HÖHN’s goal. Founded in 1910, the company still operates with the same foresight and distinct feeling for markets and people as under the company’s founder, Dr. Karl Höhn, even after more than 100 years. Personal customer relations with a single contact person for all service areas are just as important as the satisfaction of the more than 150 employees, most of whom have been with the company for many years, whose creativity, know-how, and commitment are the basis of the company’s international success.
HÖHN is a company with a broad base: the competence areas display, packaging, playing cards, digital printing, prepress, and logistics services contribute to an unusually broad value chain. All services are offered in a network, and thus from a single source. German and European brand manufacturers from the pharmaceutical, cosmetics, and optical industries have come to appreciate this, as have the confectionery, food, beverage, and tourism industries. That is where the family-owned, independent company has made a name for itself. Because at HÖHN, profits flow back into the company to create new jobs and to renew and expand the ultra-modern machinery.
Conscious of quality and the environment
HÖHN is committed to particularly high quality standards. This allows us to produce packaging with the same print quality as accompanying displays or brochures. Environmental aspects are always in focus as well. In addition to the ISO 9001 quality management system, HÖHN has PSO certification (ISO 12647-2) for standardized offset printing. Environmental aspects are taken into account through a wide range of measures, which at HÖHN have resulted in FSC® certification for some time now. HÖHN can also produce climate-neutral on an order-specific basis.
Communicative and creative.
With its wide range of services, HÖHN distinguishes itself as an experienced partner for trade marketing at the point of sale. In addition to packaging (folding boxes and packages), this also includes PoS designs using displays and printed products.
The Ludo Fact Group took over the business operations of the insolvent HÖHN GmbH on 01.04.2019 and has continued to run it under the new name “HÖHN Display + Packaging GmbH”. In addition, the group of companies with its headquarters in Jettingen-Scheppach, Swabia, acquired the property of the renowned manufacturer of displays and packaging. All 110 employees were taken over. In the meantime, the number of employees has risen to around 150 at the location in Ulm.
The company’s goal is to re-establish HÖHN as a high-performance supplier among its market competitors. The core areas of displays and packaging are to be further expanded and joint production synergies exploited. As part of the group, HÖHN now offers additional opportunities with valuable know-how in printing and finishing.
The HW group of companies was founded by Horst Walz in 1995. Even back then, folding boxes for the games industry were manufactured at the Jettingen-Scheppach site. Today, Ludo Fact GmbH and its subsidiaries produce up to 17 million board games and puzzles a year for around 200 game publishers worldwide. The “Games & Puzzles” division includes the logistics company Ludo Packt GmbH & Co. KG (Jettingen-Scheppach), the digital printing company Friedmann Print Data Solutions GmbH (Gomaringen), Ludo Fact USA LLC (Lafayette/Indiana/USA), Ludo Ligna S.R.L. (Harghita 537107/Romania) and the joint venture O.K. Oriens Karton s. r. o (Mnichovo Hradiště, Czech Republic). In addition to the “Games & Puzzles” division, the group of companies also includes the “Renewable Energies” division, under which vento ludens holding GmbH and its subsidiaries in Germany, Great Britain, and Switzerland are bundled. The group of companies employs a total of around 900 people at eight locations worldwide. DR. KARL HÖHN: INVENTOR, TECHNOLOGY FAN AND ENTREPRENEUR WITH A VISION
In the earliest chapter of our company history, chance played a role. In 1910, the chemist Karl Höhn entered a small book and lithographic printing shop in Ulm, his hometown, to have his dissertation printed there. Apparently, an idea emerged from this order. In the same year, the then 30-year-old, investing his inheritance, acquired the business and immediately set it on a steep path of expansion. In addition to actual book printing, Höhn specialized in color printing, posters, advertising print products, and labels.
We offer economical, technologically advanced, user-friendly, and safe solutions to problems with our core competence in the production of packaging and displays.
Through an active marketing policy, we acquire a clear market share as an essential factor in securing our existence and expansion.
Our relationship with our market partners is based on fair and balanced cooperation as well as a long-term and solid partnership.
We are aware that the success of our company is decisively determined by our management and professional staff. Therefore, we demand from them in particular full identification with the policy and goals of the company as well as a willingness to innovate, flexibility, and exemplary leadership behaviour.
All corporate activities are always guided by the principle of preserving our freedom of decision.
We see it as our duty towards our customers, employees, and society to work in an environmentally friendly and economical manner.
In terms of quality, we want to meet expectations and at the same time fulfil our responsibility towards the environment. For this purpose, we take up and implement meaningful measures that go beyond compliance with the law.
We are convinced that economic efficiency and environmental responsibility should not be contradictory.
